Coach Onboarding
After 40 years as the Head Coach for the UCLA Bruins, Coach John Wooden retired in 1974 with a lifetime record of .813 making him the most winningest coach in sports history. John Wooden once said, "A coach is someone who can give correction without resentment." Thank you for being willing to help coach the Heritage Academy Trap and Skeet club where our role is to instruct, direct, edify, and correct without resentment.
Below you will instructions on how to complete the Coach Onboarding process. This Coach Onboarding guide was created to help you get up and running as a coach as quickly as possible.
Get Connected
The club uses a few different channels to communicate between coaches, scholars, parents and club supporters about club events and activities including the practice schedule, the competition schedule, fundraising activities, and more. Follow the instructions below to get connected to the club.
Team Reach App
Priority: High

Time: 3 to 5 minutes
Prerequisites: None.
Requirement: Computer or smartphone with Internet access
Summary
Heritage Academy uses Teach Reach to communicate directly with scholars and parents and to share important information like the club practice and competition schedules. Follow the steps below to create a Teach Reach account and join the Heritage Academy Trap and Skeet Club group.
Instructions
If you already have a Teach Reach account, skip to step 3, otherwise continue to step 2.
Download the Team Reach app on your smartphone.
Under Group Code type "50straight".
Social Media
Priority: Medium
Cost: None
Time: 3 to 5 minutes
Prerequisites: Facebook, Instagram and YouTube Accounts
Requirement: Computer or smartphone with Internet access
Summary
One way you can support the club is by liking, following, and subscribing to the various Social Media accounts managed by the club. The social media communication channels are available to a wide audience including extended family members and friends interested in club activities.
Instructions
You can find Social Media icons at the bottom of each page of the website. Click the icon to be redirected to the respective club sponsored social media where you can join, like, subscribe, or follow us.
Get Logged In
Priority: High
Cost: None
Time: 5 to 10 minutes
Prerequisites: None
Requirement: Team ID and a computer with Internet access
Summary
The club competes in and receives member benefits from the USA Clay Target League. All members of the club must create a free account with the USA Clay Target League before participating in club events and activities.
Instructions
Open a web browser and navigate to https://www.claytargetgo.com/.
Select the option to "Login to your Team Management System".
Click "Create a Staff Account".
Fill-in all of the required fields in the form.
Enter hea529 in the field labeled "Team ID".
Click the button labeled "Create Account".
Follow the instructions to complete your Account Profile.
Get Certified
Priority: Mandatory
Cost: $50.00
Time: 4 to 5 hours
Prerequisite: Create a Staff Account with the USA Clay Target League
Requirement: Computer with Internet access and a supported browser
Summary
Safety is our top priority. All members of the coaching staff are required to complete the league's C.L.A.S.S. safety training for coaches. Completing the course will qualify coaches as a Range Safety Officer (RSO) and to provide S.A.F.E. Range Day training. The C.L.A.S.S. certification includes the same S.A.F.E. certification each scholar must complete prior to participating in range events. Follow the instructions below to sign-up for and complete the online C.L.A.S.S. training course.
Instructions
Open a web browser and navigate to www.usaclaytargetclass.com.
Click the button labeled "Get Started Now".
Register to create a new account.
Login and click START COURSE from the main menu at the top of the page.
Click and follow directions to purchase the C.L.A.S.S. online course ($50 fee).
Complete the online course.
Upon completion of the online course, you will receive a digital certificate.
Get An IVP
Priority: Mandatory
Cost: $65
Time: 30 to 60 minutes.
Prerequisite: None.
Requirement: Computer with Internet access and a supported browser.
Summary
Heritage Academy requires all coaches to obtain a Identify Verified Print (IVP) Card. IVP cards are required for any profession that operates in or around a school campus. The IVP card is obtained from the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS).
Instructions
The Fingerprint Clearance Card application process is a multi-step process that begins by submitting an online application on the Arizona DPS website. The DPS has provided a video tutorial on how to complete the application. The online application process will guide you through the remainder of the process which includes being fingerprinted at an authorized agency or service provider.

Summary
Coaches are responsible for understanding the rules, policies, procedures, and guidelines of Heritage Academy, the Heritage Academy Trap and Skeet Club, and the USA High School Clay Target League.
Instructions
Become familiar with the latest Parent / Scholar Handbook found on the Heritage Academy website. Pay close attention to the Code of Conduct, Bullying/Intimidation/Harassment, and Dress Code policies.
Become familiar with the clubs governing documents including Club Bylaws and the Club Handbook.
Study the Policies and Procedures Manual found under the Rules menu on the AZ Clay Target League website.
Get A Photo

Time: 3 to 5 minutes
Prerequisite: None.
Requirement: Computer or smartphone with Internet access and a high-resolution digital self-portrait.
Summary
Portraits of each coach are showcased on the club website under About > Our Team.
Instructions
Use Team Reach to post a high-resolution digital photo of yourself for the club website. You can find examples from other club members by clicking About > Our Team from the main navigation at the top of the website.
